Rye is a self-taught artist based in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. When asked for a quote on this painting, the artist provided the following poem, which he wrote and says has inspired all of the sailing ship paintings he has done.
Early spring night.
I wish there was A sailboat Outside In the Trees A bright warm Fire To Lead the way Don’t you? Sparking Upward In the shadows Of the sails And branches Where the Woodpeckers Sleep In front of the moon Golden like an ancient Stage We will sing With silver Halos of moths Around our Heads. And say Goodbye To the Winter.
