Classic Caprese Salad

Do not skimp on the quality mozzarella for this dish; fresh mozzarella is the only type to use! This recipe is from our Early Summer 2023 issue.

  • 2 whole large Jersey tomatoes
  • 1 bunch of basil
  • 12 quarter-inch thick slices of fresh buffalo mozzarella
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons freshly ground pepper
  1. To prepare, core and slice tomatoes. Alternate tomato and mozzarella slices. Drizzle with olive oil. 

  2. Tear the basil leaves and sprinkle over the salad. Dust with pepper and enjoy.
