Each of these postcards features a picture of different historic Cape May structures. Of the four pictured, two are no longer standing on our beachfront. The Hotel Stockton was torn down only two years after this postcard was sent. The Admiral Hotel had a much longer journey until its demolition in 1996.
Paul and Miss Anna Segal were fortunate enough to share a dance at the enchanting Hotel Stockton. Also referencing a dance, the following card features the Inn of Cape May on the far right side of the photo. This view of Ocean Street greatly contrasts with what can be seen there now, however the Victorian buildings make it perfectly recognizable. The card displaying the Admiral Hotel was written by another Paul, sending his best wishes to his barber in a Philadelphia hotel.
The final card shows Congress Hall, but Irene and her mother don’t appear to have stayed there. They post Hotel Glenwood, which was once located at 509 Hughes Street. Sent out on August 19th, just like the first card, we get a glimpse into their last chance for true relaxation before the season changes.

Dear Sam –
That was thoughtful of you to send me a “cheerio” card – and I appreciate your thought. I am feeling greatly improved and am taking a long needed rest – We may remain 2 weeks more – hope you enjoyed your holiday. My best to you Sam and regards to Miss Rowland – Paul Kellogg

“Hotel Glenwood” 509 Hughes St. Cape May n.j.
Came here last week. Mother is enjoying her food + relaxing. We are outdoors most of the time. Have met many old friends + are following usual seashore activities. Trying to rest before fall duties! Warm here but cold breeze is refreshing. Sorry to say mother fell. Sprained wrist, arm is stiff + sore. So thankful she didn’t break hip etc! Trust you are all well
