Christmas Morning Strata

Course Breakfast

Ingredients
  

  • 1 dz eggs
  • 3 cup cream
  • 1 loaf of crusty bread, cubed
  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 6 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1 red pepper, diced
  • 1 lb spinach
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 lb shredded fontina cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp provolone

Instructions
 

  • Grease a 9”x11” casserole dish. 
  • In a sauté pan, cook the sausage, crumble, and dry. Reserve. 
  • Melt the butter and sweat garlic, onions, and peppers. Add the spinach and cook until the spinach shrinks. Add the sausage and cook the mixture for 3 minutes. Cool slightly. 
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and cream. Set them aside for the next step.
  • In the greased casserole dish, layer the bread, sausage mix, and cheese. Repeat layering until all ingredients are used. Pour the egg mixture over the top and refrigerate the dish overnight.
  • In the morning, bake at 350° for 70 minutes until set. Enjoy!
