The Corinthian Yacht Club
The Corinthian Yacht Club of Cape May was founded only two years prior to the oldest card in this batch being sent out. Located on Cape May’s harbor since 1913, countless members and sailors have enjoyed all the club has to offer.
There are many subjects among these cards: requesting help from mother, confessing one’s inability to swim while at the shore, and informing that visitors are having a fine time on vacation. Postcards served the dual purpose of communicating both a message and one’s location. Today, we can easily utilize live location sharing to reveal our whereabouts with virtually zero delay. In the time of postcards, visitors could have returned home by the time mail was delivered.
As much as we relish in this world of immediacy and efficient convenience, the intimate process of these correspondences speaks of sentimentality and the power of the personal touch.
The dates below reflect the post office’s circular stamps.

Dear Miss Lizzie –
You will see by this card that I am down at Cape May and am having a fine time. I passed in examination and will be in the 2nd next year.
Sincerely,

Dear Dot,
Thank you for your letter. Don’t get Photo-play I got it last night. What have you been doing with yourself? How’s Elenor? Tell mother to get bottle of Diarrhea medicine, from Loder’s as we need it here.

Dear Aunt Abbie
I wish you were here with us, we are having a fine time, we may not go in swimming, but I can’t swim. I spent 70¢ in 6 minutes in the Convention Hall. With Love Preston
